Anxiety Disorders

Prevalence of Anxiety Disorder in Indian Population is 3.7 %  anxiety disorders affect the productive age group between 30 and 49 the most and peaks during this time. Some of the conditions that are prevalent in Indian population are:

Anxiety disorders, Phobias, Panic Disorder. stress-related and somatoform and pain disorders, Obsessive - compulsive disorder, Reaction to severe stress, and adjustment disorders, Dissociative amnesia, Dissociative fugue, Dissociative stupor, Trance and possession disorders, Dissociative motor disorders, Dissociative convulsions especially in Children and Adolescents.


Some of the major symptoms which can be recognized:

Physical sensations: Some of the symptoms which are very common, but persistent, could be headache, nausea, vomiting, sweating, trembling, stomach pain, tingling, weakness, body ache, feeling shortness of breath, hot flashes or chills, etc.

Emotional sensations You may experience nervousness, fear, irritability, worry, insecurity, isolation from others, self consciousness, desire to escape, etc. The effect of these symptoms which seem to be common can have detrimental effect on your health and can lead to the impairment of cognitive processes such as thinking, decision-making ability, incorrect perception of the environment. It may precipitate as learning ability or impaired memory and concentration.
